Definiton of Tourism

DEFINITION OF TOURISM

As we know, Tourism is not far from Traveling.

In 1941, Hunziker and Kraft defined tourism as "the sum of the phenomena and relationships arising from the travel and stay of non-residents, insofar as they do not lead to permanent residence and are not connected with any earning activity."

In 1976, the Tourism Society of England's definition was "Tourism is the temporary, short-term movement of people to destinations outside the places where they normally live and work and their activities during the stay at each destination. It includes movements for all purposes."

In 1981, the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism defined tourism in terms of particular activities chosen and undertaken outside the home.

So, the conclusion Tourism is travel for pleasure or business, also the theory and practice of touring, the business of attracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business of operating tours.

In 1994, the United Nations identified three types of tourism :

1. Home Tourism, which is the visit of a country's citizens conducted within their own country.

2. Inbound Tourism, which is a visit made by a resident of a country to another country which is not his residence.

3. Outbound Tourism, which is a visit made by residents of a country to another country.

This concept applies also to a narrower or wider area, replacing the word "country" with "region" and the word "national" with "regional". While the "region" itself may mean "region within a country" (such as "eastern Indonesia, Sumatra region, etc) or " regional group of countries "(such as" ASEAN region " , " Pacific region "etc.)
